Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King and his wife Rosalia left the island yesterday to attend the Royal wedding of Prince William Charles and Catherine Elizabeth Middleton which is scheduled for the United Kingdom on Friday, April 29th, 2011. Prime Minister King and his wife will be part of a list of approximately 1900 invitees to the wedding which will be held at Westminister Abbey within the capital city of London in the United Kingdom.

Following the wedding service, Prime Minster King and his wife will join some 600 invitees at a special reception at Buckingham Palace given by Queen Elizabeth. During the reception they will have the opportunity to meet Prince William and his bride. Prior to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prime Minister King and wife along with Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy will also attend a Dinner reception hosted by Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs William Hague, during the evening of April 28th, 2011 at Lancaster House.

The Royal wedding will be viewed by an estimated worldwide audience of two (2) billion. Guest at the Royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine will include members of British and foreign Royal families, Foreign Dignitaries (including Governor Generals and Prime Ministers) and representatives of Churches and Faith Based Organisations.

Also invited to the wedding are celebrities such as David Beckham and Sir Elton John. During his attendance at the Royal wedding, Prime Minister King will get the opportunity to meet and interact with many Dignitaries, Heads of State and political leaders of many nations from around the world. The invitation of Prime Minister Stephenson King and his wife along with Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy provides confirmation of the respect and high esteem to which Saint Lucia is held internationally.
