The world has been shocked to hear of the passing of Sugar Minott. He is a legend who has come to touch the lives of all who heard his music, and the music he produced.
The countless hours he spent developing new and existing talent, the constant promotion he gave to his projects, and his genuine love and passion for the music all contributed to every
accolade he earned over his 30 plus years in music. He deserved it! Visiting the Black Roots studio gives you a first hand look at his love, and his impact on the community.
When people (fans) are asked what they loved most about Sugar, respondents weren’t sure how to answer the question as it was an equal split in favour of his music, his live performance, the message in the music and how he treats the community.
When disc jocks (radio, dancehall and vintage mixtapes) are asked, they talk about the vibes in the music. When asked, Richard Banton spoke about the chune “Mr. DC,” while Lady Loy profiled the quality of Sugar’s music and the chune “Good Thing Going.”
Sugar Minott will be missed.
You can watch the last known interview with Sugar below as he talks about ‘Holding on to Jah.’
