The St. Lucia Writers’ Forum was formed in 1998 with an aim to provide a platform for young, aspiring writers to share their work and writing techniques. Exercises in analyzing and performance form the core of the Forum’s Tuesday night meetings.
Many of the Forum’s members have gone on to win several awards at the M&C Fine Arts Awards in different fields of the arts. Although poetry forms the wider base of the writers’ interests, prose, music and other art forms are encouraged. Renowned St. Lucian writer/educator/poet Kendel Hippolyte has also from time to time conducted several workshops geared towards honing the writers’ skills.
The Forum has chosen the above mentioned theme taking into account that the reading falls smack in the middle of St. Lucia’s thirty-first anniversary of independence.
