LIME Directory pays tribute to another great St. Lucian…

services-directory-dsc_2675LIME is using its Services Directory to pay homage to another outstanding St Lucian. Barbara Ann Cadet, a talented musician and composer and a superbly gifted artiste is being featured on the front cover of the 2009 LIME Services Directory. The official unveiling was held on Thursday at the LIME Retail Store on Bridge Street. Among those attending were St Lucian pan greats Gregory ‘Shining’ Emmanuel and Augustus ‘Pan’ Andrew who were featured on last year’s directory.

Barbara’s contribution to the development of the musical arts in St Lucia has been phenomenal. Among her many achievements, she collaborated with the St Lucia Air & Sea Ports Authority to produce the sound track for the Animation Centre at La Place Carenage, featuring a 25-minute presentation of St Lucian history. She also worked with writer and poet Adrian Augier to arrange songs for the production “Iyanola & Esperance” and St Lucia’s 25th Independence celebrations.

Barbara helped to establish St Lucia’s only all-female steel orchestra, Allegro Pan Groove, and the all-female vocal group, Sisterhood. She has represented St Lucia regionally and internationally and performed with many international artistes, including Tanya Maria, Patti Labelle and Spyro Gyra to name a few. Her latest album is “Indigenously Yours” a masterful blend of Lucian folk music with a contemporary twist. She was recently awarded the St. Lucia Medal of Merit (Gold) for her service to the field of music and the performing arts.

Ms Cadet voiced her appreciation for LIME’s decision to carry her image on the Directory front cover. “I am really excited by this – I absolutely love the cover, and I think my grandparents would be proud. When LIME approached me with this, I was surprised, I was thrilled, I was overwhelmed. It’s great, though, that LIME is using this platform to pay tribute to the arts.  And I must say that when I looked at the past covers, I saw the steel pan, voice, violin, guitar, I figured saxophone had to come in there somewhere, I just never imagined it would be me!”services-directory-dsc_2639

“It’s a privilege to have Barbara’s image on this year’s Directory. She is the first St Lucian to be featured on a Services Directory reflecting the new LIME brand and it’s a beautiful cover,” said LIME VP of Marketing & Mobile, Cheryl Francis.

Mrs. Francis also heaped praise on the publisher of the directory, Caribbean Publishing Company Ltd. “Every year we work together with CPC on the publication of a new Services Directory. Thanks to their great work and loyal service we are always guaranteed a finished product that St Lucia can be proud of. This year is no exception.”

This year the Caribbean Publishing Company, the publisher of the directory, will be managing the distribution of the directories island-wide. From March 9, copies will be available to members of the public at all LIME outlets, Super J Supermarkets, Courts stores and the St Lucia Electricity Services. Copies are currently being distributed to business houses.
